My father (72 years old) has a heart attack when he is visiting from abroad?

Question:
He does not have health insurance, and it should be very expensive to go to the hospital. What shall I do? What is the policy for emergency medical care for tourist/visitors?

Answers:
Something similiar happened when we lived in Vegas. A man had a heart attack (we were in the emergency room for nothing major), and his wife was hysterical. We found out that the hospital was obligated by law to care for him, whether or not he had the ability to pay.

Unless you are extremely well-to-do, they cannot charge you for his debt.

Other Answers:
he can go to the hospital that is life threatening, the hospital is not allowed to denie anyone medical care. you can set up a payment plan with them. get him to the hospital NOW! good luck
