Black outs?

Question:
Last summer i was shopping when I felt sick. i then walked but lost my balance and my sight, i couldn't walk, so had to lean on my mum and we went to get help. i saw a first aider in a shop and she said it might be a 'silent migrane' does anyone know what one of these is? i still feel really tired all the time and have dark circles under my eyes but haven't had a black out again. Does anyone know what i should do?

Answers:
To know for sure, see your doctor or nurse practitioner. They would be the best informed about these things.

Some of the latest research says that the blood vessels at the basal...base of the neck become squeezed and they have a very hard time carrying oxygen to the brain. Doctors can treat this a number of ways to open those blood vessels. He will need to discuss a treatment plan with you should this be your diagnosis.

Mom used to get migraines. Her sight would go and she would just feel sick. She had the real bad headaches...REAL bad headaches.

She had medication that she took when she felt a migraine coming on. This med was a pain reliever but did nothing for opening blood vessels.

She now takes a medication called amyltriptolene (sp?) which is an antidepressant. One of the other things this medication does is open blood vessels so they carry more oxygen to the brain and everywhere else.

In the last seven years, she has experienced one migraine headache.

a migraine headache shouldn't last for more than three or so days. If you are experiencing constant and consistent tiredness, it could be an indication of something a little more serious.

What should you do? See your doctor or nurse practitioner or medical person that you will not need to wait as long of a time to see. We are all just novices at this and can only tell you about someone else who had the same symptoms but it turned out to be a different diagnoses. Many of the same symptoms can turn out to be a number of different problems in a number of individuals. It depends on your medical condition prior to this incident, how much time will it be until you are able to see a doctor, your physical condition prior to the incident...blah...blah.
Everyone is different.

Just out of curiosity. Where are you from? Generally speaking. With your word choice I am thinking England. I attended university at Birmingham for a little while. Enjoyed the education immensely! The food was another matter...different cultures, different foods. I adjusted well, though.
I used to have an eating disorder. Since I was purging all of my food, I wasn't getting the vitamins and nutrients my body needed and I'd have blackouts. You may not be eating enough, or enough of good, healthy foods.
