Answers:
Hi, I am so sorry about your son. I understand quite well. I was in a car accident too and I am still having some problems in remembering things, but mostly something that happened before or dates or names or forgetting to take care of things on time and if I write them down, I don't remember what I did with the paper a few minutes later. It is not an easy thing to deal with. I also have a lot of injuries that I will live with for the rest of my life. I don't know where you live, but I will give you some information on the place where I went for therapy and they are great and all the doctors are in the same facility. If you need any other specialists, the medical doctor will give you a referral. They will most likely send him for a MRI to see the damages and they also have nuerologist in there facility. Everyone working there is so nice, including the doctors and they all get to know you buy your name where you feel so at ease there. I was with them for over a year. When you call, ask for Alex. They also provide free transportation (pick up and drop off). If you don't live in the area, you can ask them if they have another branch in your area. God bless you and your son.

Is there another doctor in the surgery you can see?
Go to a different Dr next time. Or you could call or go to a large hospital and talk to someone in neurology and tell them you would like an appointment with a neurologist for your son. Tell them your son's symptoms and they may agree with you that he needs to see a specialist. If you demand one, you will be able to find a neurologist who may be able to help you.
Go to a hospital and request to see a neurologist. Your doctor is a moron so rule him out and go to the hospital. Get a doctor there to examine him and refer him to a neurologist.

However, he may not need one. Or rather, there may be nothing a neurologist can do.
he needs an occupational therapist to see him, get a referal from the gp
WHy dont you think about switching his PCP? just get a new fresh dr... and upon first initial visit to this new doctor, be adamant about the fact that a neurologist should be contacted...
just explain to this new DR that the old one countlessly referred you to get a MHA and that its useless because he needs a neurologist...

Thing about it is, doctors are individuals, not communities... so what one says may be different from what another says... if you dont like what this Doctor says, get a second opinion, or get a new doctor.... youll be way better off! good luck.
hi i am a nurse in neurology unfortunately you have to be referred to a neurologist by GP referral, unless you go Private, but you can Say to your GP about seeing one and tell him if he doesn't refer you to one then you will complain and ask for a second opinion, you do have a right about seeing one, this is a genuine reason so your GP can't really refuse
If your health insurance gives you the option, see another doctor, go directly to a neurologist.
Deja's right.Good advice
Keep fighting for your son.
why was he not see while he was in hospital after the accident? my husband has a brain injury from an assault he was referred to a neurologist. Go back to the hospital if that's were he was seen, I understand what you are going through it's hard keep fighting for your son.
Good luck my thoughts are with you
Find neurologist in you area. They will need current (within last 6 months)MRIs and all reports related to the injury. (most dr. offices will charge for records, if they are not referring to the specialist) Depending on your insurance, if you have an HMO, you'll need a referral or authorization from your family dr.
But otherwise you can just make an appt w/ the neurologist as long as you have the reports and films.
