How do I get this ring off of my finger?

Question:
My hands have become swollen around my ring on my finger and it is painful and I need to take it off. Any suggestions on how to get it off with out cutting it?

Answers:
1. Soak your hand in ice water until you can't stand it.

2. Smear butter, olive oil, mineral oil or any other slippery substance on your finger, trying to get as much as you can under the ring.

3.. Push the ring up towards the opposite side of your knuckle.

4. Scream out something such as, "come on you darn ring!" as you wince in pain.

If it doesn't come off after that... snip snip!

Other Answers:
1. Soak your hand in ice-cold water if it is swollen. Wait 5 to 10 minutes for the swelling to recede.

2. Apply lubricant around the ring and up the length of your finger. Hand lotion, soap, dishwashing liquid or olive oil will do the trick.

3. Twist the ring as you slowly work it up and over the knuckle. You may need to apply some force to get it over the first knuckle. Make sure to twist, not tug.

4. If the ring still won't budge, visit a doctor to have it removed.

Overall Warnings:
If you're experiencing swelling from an injury, it is important to remove any rings before the swelling worsens, because the rings might cut off the finger's blood supply.
ya soapy water or lotion
Soap lather dear!
Put your hand in ice water for as long as you can stand it and then try to remove the ring
warm water and liquid soap or butter, but i'd use the soap.
run your hand under cold water. Then soap it well with barely warm water and a sudsy soap. This should lubricate it enough to get it off.
yes, ice your finger, then apply oil (any kind--baby,olive, vegetable-whatever) it should come off--also the earlier in the day you do this the better as your hands and feet tend to swell more during the day --hope this helps you.
cooking oil, lotion, ice your finger-good luck
put your hand in cold water and soap on it and rub it off
cooking oil or soapy water
soap, cream or oil. Or just have it cut!
work on getting the swelling down
maybe ice while elevating it will help
then use something to moisturize the area really well to keep the friction down.
good luck, and try not to panic
First soak your hand in very cold water to help reduce the amount of blood. You can also raise it high above your head. Then quickly apply cooking oil, etc. and off it comes.
It happened to me once. Get your hand inside a bowl full of cold water and ice (for a little while), then, get it out you can apply some baby oil or hand cream. It sould do the trick.
Try running cold water over your finger or soak it in a bowl of ice water - then pour cooking oil or liquid detergent over it and try to get it off. If that doesn't work, repeat the process. Hopefully that will work for you.
Wash your hands, using liquid soap. It should be able to slide off.
KY jelly. Seriously.
I always just put a lot of lotion on my finger and it usually slides right off.
Try butter or cooking oil.
There are several things you can try:
1. oil
2. vasaline
3. soapy water
4. butter

For all of them just rub on your finger and gently slid it back and forth down your finger till it's off.
Vegtable Oil or Butter
K R has the answer.
but a cool cloth over your hand to bring down the swelling

try some sort of oil when the swelling goes down to help get the ring off
Soak your hand in ice water for a few minutes and then apply cream or butter around the ring and twist in an upwards motion.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!
put your hand in ice water for as long as you can stand then hold your hand with your fingers pointing up use windex on your finger and it should slip off--or anything to help lube it up soap, lotion oil etc--but at the jewelry store they use windex to help get it off--also make sure that you drink a ton of water--sometimes you are retaining water and that makes it hard to get a ring off
dish soap... butter..... crisco oil..
try soap or put you hand in cold water
Prick your finger with a hot sterile needle and drain the puss or bloody discharge from the swollen fluid pouch in your finger and then remove the ring. :-)
You had better get to a hospital soon. If you are having pain & its swollen? Not good. If your finger is turning colour don't wait. I had the same problem. And i did not want to have it cut. But the hospital told me it's either the ring or my finger. This only if you've tried everything from baby oil to vasiline.
