Is anyone aware of any new insects in the UK that are new to this country,& that bite or sting?

Question:
Ive been bitten, as have probably others as well,by something resembling a beetle.

Answers:
Sorry to disagree with mastersnina but spiders do bite in this country. My son had a huge wolf spider in his shoe and didn't know it was there, he put his foot in and it bit him. His foot swelled to twice the size and he had to be treated in hospital.

The hospital did say that it was unusual but it does happen more and more as the summers are getting warmer there are more bugs for the spiders to eat and so they are growing bigger.

A young lad in the Northeast caught a wolf spider and kept it in a jar and fed it regularly on insects that it's body was the size of a small egg and it could produce enough venom to kill a rat. Needless to say when his parents found out they made him hand it over to the RSPCA.

Oh beetles can have a nasty bite. Spiders too. Their pincher's can be dirty and give you an infection

what did it look like, as there are many different types of beetle, i'd dab it with detol make sure it hasn't laid any eggs in you we have no spiders that can penetrate our skin but would be very poisnous if they could we do however have mosquitos that have come into the country and they are biting the hell out of me
