Your doctor has years of medical training and is right! Shingles is a reactivation of the dormant chicken pox virus. It can be reactivated by stress. Maybe you were stressed by the spider bite and this caused the virus to reactivate. I had shingles once it's horrible. Hope you are feeling better!!

idk i heard you get it from stress
yes it is coincidence, shingles is caused by something entirely different, spider bite is a neuro toxin, and shingles is caused by bacterial infection, the Doctor is correct..look it up on WebMd as to what causes it, that'll settle ur mind Shingles is actually from dormant chicken pox. It is usually caused by nerves, stress. A spider bite wouldn't have caused it.
Shingles is not caused by a spider bite. The pain of shingles is caused by an inflammation of the nerve that lies just beneath the skin's surface. Shingles originates from the same virus which causes chickenpox. The virus, after infecting the person with chickenpox, retreats to the nervous system where it remains dormant for many years. It reappears in the form of shingles, only if the immune system is weakened, or as a result of a more severe or lengthy illness, extreme stress, or a therapy involving suppression of the immune system. Herpes zoster is common in people with a weakened immune system, such as AIDS patients or people taking anticancer or immunosuppressant drugs. Shingles is more common in the elderly, who tend to have less efficient immune systems. Overall health and nutrition often determine the severity of illness and length of recovery.
I have never heard of shingles being caused by a spider bite. They are actually caused by the virus herpes zoster.no, not the same herpes that causes cold sores.it is the same one that causes chicken pox though. Hopefully you got some good pain meds cause I have heard that shingles hurt pretty bad.
Your doc is right. Shingles are caused by having had chickenpox or the chickenpox vaccination. It has nothing to do with a spider bite, which has only localized venom.
Do keep an eye on the spider bite, they can cause long term problems in the bite area, sometimes for months afterwards.
