Are there any methadone clinics on Long Island in Suffolk COunty?

Question: My BF is addicted to pain killers Oxycottin and everything els eunder the sun. His friend said that a methadone clinic would help but I cant seem toloacate one. Does anyone know if there is on on long island please we have 3 girls together and i need him to get better to be there for his children.

Clinics such as these stem from programs set up during the Nixon administration to combat heroin use, first in Washington, D.C., then nationwide. In addition to obtaining a daily methadone dose, people who go to this type of clinic for addiction treatment must attend some type of psychological counseling for their addiction. Frequently, they are also required to attend local 12-step programs.

Specific to Suffolk County, the Suffolk County runs a community mental hygiene service with a methadone program.

Contact the Suffolk County Dept. of Health. There is a clinic located in the county center in Riverhead. I do not know if you can just drop in or call to get an appt. I believe it has to be mandated or prescribed by a Dr.
