why does my back crack when i twist it.?
Question:
Answers:
I notice that people will go through three different stages.
The first stage is when the Spine and surrounding tissues are soft, pliable, and flexible. The is the best stage to be in, and everything moves and works as it should.
The second stage is the noisy stage. Often there has been an injury, and tension starts to get stored in the tissues. Things will crack, pop, and crunch. It can come from the Spine or even extremities like shoulders or hips.
The third stage is when everything seizes up and no more cracking takes place. Everything is solid and unflexible. Run your hand down the Spine of a ninety year old, and you'll know what I mean.
The cracking sound is hypothesized to be the escape of nitrogen gas from the synovial fluid of a joint with a decrease in pressure. It has been shown to be associated with the localized release of endorphins, which makes it feel good, and can cause an addiction to 'cracking'.
Cheers,
It's the release of gas bubbles in the fluid between your bones.
