I have to take Dalacin C capsules -but I can`t swallow em-is it safe to just swallow the powder in them?

Question:
I am really pathetic but I cannot swallow capsules-is it ok to break open the capsule & just swallow the powder inside it?

Answers:
Wow.
Yes,you can ,dear. It's safe.As long as it's taken with meals.
Dalacin C is just an antibiotic for resistant or atypical micro-organisms.It won't harm you.The capsules are easily digested within 30 minutes or so after swallowing. They are not intended for slow release-just for coating because the drug is very bitter.

Other Answers:
Call and ask your pharmacist, he/she would know better than anyone else.
Ask the pharmacist IF it is okay to open the capsule. They are the one to know.

Secret to swalloing a problem medication PUT it in some applesauce and swallow. The applesauce has an oil that makes it easy to swallow things.
well they may not taste very nice lol, can't see why not if you cannot take them whole
Don't open up capsules, the effects won't be the same, you may even overdose yourself.
Go back to the doc and ask for another form of the medication.
opening up capsules can be extremely dangerous-- the capsule generally releases the medicine over time. Being exposed to all of the medication at once could be harmful to you.
I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse. NO it's not safe to do this because the capsule they are in acts as a time release and the medication enters the system slowly. Also, you may harm the lining of your stomach by taking just the powder on it's own. I am the same when it comes to taking tabs and caps, I just think of something else and swallow in one gulp.
