Start NOW to avoid more weight gain, so that you won't have even more to lose! I knew I was eating more, it all adds up, but I thought, "Well I can get it off in a few months." I put on 30 pounds, and it wasn't easy losing it, nor just a few months. The time and effort wasn't worth what and how I ate. Eat sensibly, exercise - walking is great, especially outdoors for fresh air. Get into some activities that will take up some time and make it easier not to think about food, or smoking either. You didn't ask, but I'd like to advise you never to go back to smoking, it's typically harder to quit again. Good luck!

Go for a half hour walk every night, but make sure it's at a reasonable pace - oh, and try and cut back on sweet and fatty foods.
The reason you will have put on weight is most likely because you replaced smoking with more food. You should try to cut down on food. Have a glass of water instead. If you find you don't know what to do with your hands, find a hobby. Maybe you could take up a sport or other form of exercise. That will lessen your urge for food or whatever and also help keep you fit. well i guess trying to not focus on the smoking and stoping it too kinded open your appetice which is a good thing and also a bad one because you get become overweight but try to control your eating and tell yourself you want to stop smoking and you are not going to let because of it you lose control in something else and see how it work for you
