does anyone know how long a body stays at the bottom after they have drowned?

Question:
my boyfriend jumped off a bridge 15 days ago and we haven't found him yet i need to no how long he will stay down...they say he might not ever come up...he is down 160ft.

Answers:
I am sorry for your loss....I can only say from my experience growing up on coastal waters, that usually after approximately three days a drowning victim's body will resurface. Water temperature will determine how fast or slow this occurs due to the onset of decomposition/bacteria, which will cause the body to float. If he is not located soon, this will likely determine how burial arrangements are made. Again, I am sorry for his and your loss, and his families loss.

if he were to come up it woulda happened by now
That is sad, but he will eventually come up. Maybe not in the spot where he jumped at though.
Once his organs start to produce gas from decomposition, he'll rise to the top. Sounds gross, but that's the way it works.
I have no answer, but wanted you to know how sorry I am for your loss. (((((hug)))))
it depends if he's hella buff it would take longer than if he was overweight because muscle sinks like a lead weight but fat floats like a boat
maybe he wanted to get away & will return after upeople quit looking for him. get a new boyfriend & show him a different bridge with shallower water.
