what is the best part and the worst part of being a Care Aid, thinking about taking the course?
Question:
Answers:
Probably the worst part is cleaning fecal material/vomit/urine off of someone, dealing with the associated smells and depending on where you work as an aide, getting hit, spit, bit, cussed out, etc., all for doing your job. The best part is the satisfaction of knowing that you have made someone's life just a little bit better. In order to do this job and do it well you have to be compassionate, patient, kind, loving, understanding and tolerant. This is not the kind of job you get into just because you want a job. You do it because the desire you have to help others over shadows all those negative parts of the job. You do it because you want to make a difference in a person's life. It is a very stressful job that not everyone can handle, but the rewards you receive are well worth it.
How do I know these things? I started out my CNA career 10 years ago, obtained my RN license 7 years ago but continue to hold my CNA license, and I train people to become CNAs. If you have any other questions, please feel free to e-mail me.
Other Answers:
The worst part is having to wash and clean poop, vomit or other body fluids off a patient. The best is knowing you've helped someone that at the time can't help themselves.
