Back/Neck Pain?
Question:
Answers:
You need to see a physician. Your primary care doctor can refer you to an orthopedic specialist or neurologist who can order diagnostic tests and provide a proper diagnosis. Radiculopathy (pain in the limbs from the neck or back) is a serious problem and needs to be dealt with properly. It may be a degenerative disc, herniated disc, spondylosis, muscle pain, myofascial pain, thoracic outlet syndrome, ETC. So you see, there are many possibilities and you need a professional to help figure it out.

Sciatica.Suggest you see a Chriopractor or and Acupuncturist in your area.
go to a massage therapist they help get all the knots out and it helps the muscles relax.
If the pain is sharp and sudden when you move a certain way it might be a pinched nerve in your neck/shoulder. You need to go to a chiropractor. The "lingering" pain is the after effects.

had a pinched nerve before and the pain sounds the same

I would suggest a chiropractor/Neurologist there are dr's who have both degree's & practice. In my case they found degeneration in the c-5c-6 region in my cervical spine.
MRI was ordered through mD, other then that everybody else said I was fine.
Anytime you have radiculopathy (the radiating pain you're experiencing in your arm) you need to seek professional care. Personally, I would recommend you start with your primary treating physician who can order the proper diagnostic studies. Use caution if you choose to utilize a chiropractor. Until you can rule out a damaged disc, you may place yourself in a possibly dangerous situation as some chiropractors cannot (or will not) order the proper studies.

I've always have neck and back problems too. What I do is use "Salon Pas" which are patches, like "Icy-Hot" Be sure to be constantly massaging. It goes away in about 3, 2 days.
It sounds like you have a pinched nerve. I would try a licensed massage therapist first. Sometimes if you can relax all the tight muscles surronding and pinching the nerve, then the nerve will have enough space and not be p ainfull anymore.
