What's the best approach to purify the air indoors during the winter?

Question:
During the winter months, it's too cold to keep my window open. As a result, the indoor air can get pretty stuffy. What's the best way to purify the air? I was thinking of getting an air purifier, but am not sure what's a good brand. Also, which is better the ionic kind or filtered? As an alternative, how about just having several indoor plants? Would that do just as good of a job as I've read that plant purify the air naturally. Thanks for your answers.

Answers:
If you cannot open the window, then your best bet is to purchase a good air purifier. Do not buy any purifier that employs a process called ozonolysis as they can cause ozone pollution worse than a Los Angelos smog alert. Ioniic air fresheners do put out some ozone, but "none of the ionic air purifiers produce enough ozone when they are used properly to exceed smog alerts.”
I have air purifier and is absolutely great. Make is Daikin and I believe it is the best on market. After a week of plugging it in the filter was totally full (don't worry, you vacum it clean and don't have to buy new filter everytime). Has automatic mode and fan adjusts depending on the smell and dust detectors.
