Sounds like it might have been quit a blow. You can try some ice now but not longer that about 5-10 minutes. see how that makes it feel. If it helps try to do it at least a couple of times a day. If it still hurts in a few days you might want to have it looked at. It will probably be xrayed to make sure nothing is broken or fractured. m
Upper back pain can occur as a result of trauma or sudden injury, or it can occur through strain or poor posture over time. As an example of the latter cause, in recent years, upper back pain has become a familiar complaint from people who work at computers most of the day. Often, upper back pain occurs along with neck pain and/or shoulder pain.
If there is a specific area that is very tender, the source of the upper back pain may be an active “trigger point”. Trigger points are usually located in a skeletal muscle and can be worked on by either one or a combination of the following treatments:
Massage therapy
Acupuncture
Trigger point injections with a local anesthetic (such as Lidocaine).
Pain medications can also be helpful. Muscular irritation usually includes some form of inflammation, so anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen or COX-2 inhibitors) can be helpful to reduce the inflammation.
If the area has a warm temperature do not use heat. Use ice. heat aggrevates it. The bruise isn't going to affect recovery time. since it's a bruise it will heal on its own with time as long as it is not bothered. also try some stretches to relieve tension in the muscle. Also massages are really good in this case.
go to the doctor and tell him what is going on and what you did and how it is now.
i hurt my back at work and the company doc said that it was just a slight back sprain.
6 years later, im on disability and having a hard time walking without having surgery.
please go to a doctor and tell him and if you have been to a doctor and its still not better, go to another doctor. dont screw up like i did and just take a company doctors word for things. they are paid by the company and it isnt always to your benefit to listen to them.
