Any herbal releif or cures for hayfever ?

Question:
The hayfever season is particularly bad this year and prescription anti-histamines don't seem to work but are expensive too.

Answers:
There are quite a few food groups that make us more "snuffly" anyway, so make hayfever all the worse. Erradicating these is very effective.

Basically, avoid anything with yeast in it - such as bread, and any alcoholic drink. Yeast seems to make sufferers a lot more susceptible to pollen.

Cut out dairy produce (milk, cheese, eggs). These increase the production of mucous, causing more pollen to become trapped in our nazel cavity.

Drink plenty of water - this helps clear the throat and nose - and eat lots of fresh fruit and veg - these contain compounds that help our immune system, and seem to help "clean" away the pollen. Also, as already mentioned, a little bit of honey helps - this sooths the throat.

I used to suffer from really bad hayfever, but since cutting back drastically on anything containing yeast, dairy produce, fungus (such as mushrooms), and becoming vegetarian, my allergies have dropped off drastically, so that I only now need anti-histamenes on really bad days now.

Humans should not suffer from hay fever. It is urbanization that has caused it. We can help get rid of it by returning to a healthier, more wholesome natural diet.

piriton works for me, never tried anything else other than that
I heard the other day that something called marsh mellow works really good.. think you have to take about three a day and it is supposed to be really effective. I would presume that they sell it in health food shops.
Get some honey from your local beekeeper and eat a bit every day. It does wonders for hay fever as it stops you recting to the pollen in your area. However, it has to be local honey from locally kept bees or it won't work.
Try using a homoeopathic remedy called, "Combination H Salts", take 4 tabs to start and then take another, 4 tabs about 1 hour later, continue to use them whenever you feel the need to take them, during the first few days you may find yourself using them every hour or so, but the relief from hay fever is worth it in the long run, plus there are no side-effects from using them.
If you are going outdoors wear a pair of sunglasses, this will help stop pollen getting into your eyes and starting an allergic reaction.
Try this site.
This Naturopath consults online and is good. I have used him before.
