stiches - heal?
Question:
and the doctor put in stiches.
i am covering with a band-aid. and using neosporin.
should i use an ice pack? no?
should i take off the band-aid, and let the air get to it?
thx
Answers:
Neosporin is good stuff.
The ice pack would be useful only if there is pain. As far as the healing process it is better to keep it protected 24/7 for the first couple of days. Once it has started to heal, then you can give it some air.

if a chunk of skin is missing you are going to have a nasty scar if you don't get stitches.
i had the same thing.ice only if it is swollen and not for long just a few mins at a time.take off the band aid and let it get some air.just leave it be mostly
take off the band aid. if u dont, then it will look nasty and take longer to heal.
Take the bandaide off if it has been 24 hours since the surgery. Do not apply neosporin! This does nothing and can cause antibiotics to not be effective if you should get an infection.
Shower several times a day to get germs off your body.
Use ice only if you call and ask the doctor, because if you need ice, it means you have swelling or excess pain and the doctor needs to be aware of this.
