What happened to my father?

My father and I are at the beach today and were body surfing. He smashed his head into the sand now says that his left arm has a burning feeling and that his fingers are numb. Also he said that his back is stiff. I belive that he has some nerve damage. Can anyone tell me what happened to my father?

Father must go to a doctor. Nobody on a web site is qualified to diagnose any injury or illness and even if they think they've had the same thing, it's much too dangerous to believe them. There's too many nerves involved in what he did and I hope he got to a doctor. The spine is some way involved in this and the spine can be difficult to diagnose. Then his doctor will send him to a specialist and for CT scans, MRI, xrays, blood tests, etc., to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment.

He might as well has a squeezed nerve due to the impact. Or even a worse hidden injury. If it's not getting better very soon, I would tell him to get seen by a doctor for an x-ray or something like that.
