About how long??....a question about a urine drug screen??

Question:
I have to have a urine drug test. Just the basic screening I suppose. My question is how long to painkillers stay in your system? I have been taking Lorcet 5/500 off and on for a few months after my shoulder surgery. I would rather not let my college know that, because I dont want them thinking I am dependent. I have a doctor who prescribes it to me and a bottle from the pharmacy . I guess Im just paranoid, but I dont want them thinking Im a druggie. How long does this medicine show up in urine or blood? Thanks. (the test is for a pre-entrance admission into a clinical setting in nursing)

Answers:
First of all Lorcet is a narcotic. Don't listen to the person who answered the first answer. Secondly, many people in the health care industry use narcotics for body injuries and pain. You have a prescription from a physician, therefore, the company performing the test will just call and tell you that you tested positive for opiates and will ask if you have a prescription. They will check out the prescription with the physician, but don't feel like it is something bad. Also, before the drug screen, often the company will ask if you have been on prescription pain killers for any condition. So don't get crazy, You will be fine. By the way, on average the kidneys and liver will detoxify the medication in 24 hours but it can still be traceable up to 48 hours. Good luck

lorcet usually stays in ur system for 12 days. i wouldn't worry so much because its not a narcotic
urine test only test for Cocaine, THC (marijuana), and Opiates. besides, you DO have a prescription for the Lorcets don't you?
just take the bottle with you tell tell how many you take and how often and what its for, they test for illegal drugs anyways
Lorcet is a combination of 2 drugs, acetaminophen (Tylenol) and hydrocodone (an opiate). The half life of this drug is roughly 4 hours, which means that in 4 hours half of the dose is metabolized. Your dosage is 5 mg of hydrocodone and 500 mg of acetaminophen. Basically, after 4 hrs, there will be 250 mg hydrocodone still circulating in your bloodstream. After 8 hrs, there will be 125 mg of hydrocodone in circulation...I would stay off it for a couple of weeks before your drug test to be safe. I used to do drug testing in a toxicology lab. Our urine drug screens tested for cannabinoids (THC); opiates (which Lorcet is); benzodiazepines; barbiturates; amphetamines; benzoylecgonine (cocaine metabolite); methadone; and PCP.

i have just done a detox it takes just under a fortnight , you will probably get some mild withdrawls including shivers and stomach cramps which you can take buscopan for but do remember pain is only temporary!
