Well, I don't have a story about 20,000 dehydrated Egyptians, but I do know that it can cause headache, dry skin, burning urine, hair loss, brittle nails, dry mouth, kidney failure, dry eye, reduces body's ability to digest properly and process fat properly (causing weigh gain) and it will reduce the energy you have, make you hotter (because you cannot sweat as much) and, at the extremes, it can kill you.

dehydration can cause your toungue to turn yellow, in the advanced stages. it can also cause hullutionacions and pupil dialation to go with it.
