BMI measurements are not appropriate for athletes, body builders, lactating women, growing children, or frail and sedentary older adults. It's determined by dividing weight in kilograms by height in meters squared. BMI's between 20 and 25 kg/msquared are associated with the least mortality. under 16 are associated with eating disorders and over 25 are overweight and obese.
