If a large bruise has healed yet the area still hurts when pressed 6wks after inury, is this normal??
Question:
A large bruise appeared a few days later, must have been about 1.5" high and about 3-4" in length. I also had a 'dead leg' for about a day or two.
It took about 4-5 weeks for the red/brown bruise to heal. The skin is now a normal colour, although if you look real close, there is a very, very subtle difference in the skin tone where the bruise used to be.
Anyway, when you press the area where the bruise was, it still hurts. Is this normal? Has it still not healed properly yet? How long should i leave it (if still experiencing pain when pressing) to see a doctor, if necessary??
thanks for your help.
Answers:
You probably bruised nerve endings as well as subcutaneous tissue and capillaries. Bad enough to numb your leg. Give it more time. Sometimes when a bruise is very bad, the skin is left permanently discolored. This is a scar.
If you still experience the same amount of pain in...say 3 weeks, speak to your health care provider about it. In the meantime, please stop pressing on it.

Then don't press on it moron.
this happened to my son - he developed an infection where the dead blood vessels had failed to disperse that could have gone onto become septisemia (spelling may be dodgy). I'd try using arnica for a couple of days as it helps to get rid of the dead blood vessels but if theres no improvement in a couple of days - get down to your GP or local nhs drop in. Hope this helps.
U need to enroll in a mental institution for bruise babies. They have one in Seattle.
