If you are a nurse, what's the most interesting/bizarre thing you've seen in a patient?

Question:

Answers:
The most interesting or bizarre medical procedure I've ever seen and performed on a patient is the insertion and removal of sterile maggots into a deep wound to debride the necrotic tissue. Pretty freaking cool man, they can work wonders!

p.s. Yikes! It sounds like the guy the next chick is talking about could use some Maggot Debridement Therapy.

When I was in training there was a patient brought in that had been neglected by there family. They had been laying on one side too long and a bedsore formed on their hip and you could see their hip bone sticking out. I can tell you the smell was bad as well. That is the most bizarre thing.
We had a male pt come in after having a vibrator put so far in his anus it slipped away and vibrated to the turn or the flexion of the colon and he could not get it out.
He could feel the thing vibrating for a long time before it finally stopped.. We took him to the OR after unsuccesfully trying to get it out of his anus. The surgeon returned it to the pt in a biohazard baggie.
True story happy RN is what I should have used as my name.
ok, I can't beat the vibrator story (!) but when I was going through clinicals in school I got to insert my first foley cath in a young man who had a large tattoo on his penis. Lets just say there was a lot of nervous laughter coming from my instructor.
