What causes your hair to turn grey?
Question:
Answers:
Hair naturally turns grey as you get older. Most people don't see grey until their late thirties, but a very few turn prematurely grey in their teens. It all depends on genetics.
How Does Grey Happen?
As you age, your natural production of haircolour pigment, melanin, slows down and your natural colour loses its colour strength. This doesn't happen to every hair at the same time, so when some of your hair has no colour (white), and the rest still has colour, the contrast causes the look of grey. When your hair is about half white and half pigmented, it's called "salt and pepper" haircolour. Your hair looks more and more grey as it loses more and more of its pigment.
