You might want to get a bone density scan.talk to your Dr since this is happening now when it is getting colder and your joints are more prone to act up.It might be the onset of Arthritis or Osteoporosis.I Also have the same thing and thought it was my Heart.I have a bad heart,Congestive Heart Failure. But it was not that as i went thought he stress test just fine. Then i went for a bone density scan and they found i had stress fractures in my next and upper back and lower back, this was causing the tightness and pain and I am on Flosamax.Which helps rebuild your joints. So talk with your Dr about all of this. Also get a check on your wrist for Carpel Tunnel as it too can cause pain in hand, and arm and shoulder.
I hope you get to feeling better and I hope this helps as i have all the things you have listed and have found out what is going on.It is especially important to get all this checked out if you are over 40.And going thought eh change of life.
Good luck

Yeh i've had this many times before. It turned out that my wife was on top of me (about 6-7 times a day). Once we got divorced, BINGO! it's all stopped
claire, what you could be experiencing is what is called pleurisy and it is considered to be a inflammation of the muscles in your chest walls. if this pain and feeling keeps up though you should go to the doctor and get examined because you do not want to mess with pain in the chest what you are describing could be the symptoms of a heart attack and it really is better to be safer than sorry hope i was some help doodles
Go see your doctor right away. I've heard this heavy feeling in the chest and back could be signs of a heart condition, especially in women. I wouldn't mess with it.
