twisted ankle?

Question:
I think I twisted my ankle yesterday, not really sure how . It was a little swollen last night but wasn't too bad this morning so I went ahead and went to work. Now it is extremely swollen, but not bruising or discolored. And it hurts to walk on it. I know I need to stay off of it but should I go to the hospital and have it looked at too?

Answers:
Go to the hospital and have it examined. Otherwise, cold pack for two days, heat starting on the third day. You should stay off of it. Going to the doc could: 1. Tell you if you need more than just cold packs and heat. 2. Give you an excuse to stay off your feet.

Other Answers:
I'm sure you didn't break or fracture it.I would ice it down, and try to stay off of it for a while. If it cause you alot of pain, then i would see a doctor, that way you can get some crutches.Take some tylenol for the pain.

yeah if it is still hurting and swollen then yes you should Trust me i know how you feel. I twisted my ankle while playing basketball not pretty. What i did was put on a brace and stayed off of it. I went to the Doctor and he gave me naporexen and in a week and a half i was walking again.

I did that recently and I would advise having it looked at. They took an x-ray and I went back for a re-check and when it was still swollen I went for an MRI. It'd just be safer to know it isn't serious.
Good luck!

If you don't recall how you twisted it, it's probably not bad. If it broke, you would probably remember - or at least heard a pop or something. If it's not discolored and you can walk on it (even if there is some pain), I would not panic yet. Keep it elevated and keep ice on it. If it does not improve by tomorrow, I would just maybe go to the doctor (as the insurance copay is usually cheaper at the Dr office than the ER).
