any suggestions to help my 6 month old, she has a terrible cough?

Question:
i have taken her to the doctors, she is very chesty, and the doctor said its not viral, but if it gets worse come back.

Answers:
Doctor's are great arn't they. They take a quick look at our kids then tell us it is nothing to worry about BUT if it gets worse come back. It's like we parents are simplistic beings devoid of intelect!

Why can't they just impart a little pitty upon us simple parents and at least offer some suggestion (medical or otherwise) on what we can do for our kids to ease their suffering rather than tell us there is nothing we can do just come back if it gets worse.

In relation to the cough, we have often used steam to ease a cough. Just sit in the bathroom with the shower running as hot as it can and after 10 or 20 minutes our little ones at least did seem to have an easier time.

The steam seems to help open up their air ways and makes helps ease the cough.

Not really good for water restrictions but we found it helped our kids.

The doctors won't suggest this because people in the past have ended up scalding their kids so make sure your a long way from the hot water.

Good luck.

Other Answers:
take her to a doctor .
If you have taken the child in to the doctor's with-in 24hrs, the best to do is use a humidifier and watch for fever. If not viral ask about medication for bacterial infection. Bernie
take her back and ask for a cough syrup for her , for now run a hot shower and put her in the room so she can breath in some of the steam . Go out and buy a vaporizer
From experience the best solution is Dimetapp for me and giving vapor baths and put a vaporizer in their room!! Make sure it is not the "whooping cough". If it is then take your child back to the doctor.
