It sounds like a nerve may be pinched. You should consult a sports rehabilitation center and see what they have to say and if there's any thing they can do for you.
Other than that, you can try rotator cuff exercises. You may have heard about them. It involves using a light dumbell (about 5 lbs maximum). You would lay on your side, on a bench. With the dumbbell in your hand and your upper arm, making an "L" shape at the side of your body (with your forearm crossing over your stomach, as the starting positon), rotate the dumbell away from your stomach, until the dumbbell is paralell with the floor and your arm is at 90 degrees and repeat. Do 3 sets of 10 reps for each arm. You should do this no more than twice a week.
This will strengthen the rotator cuff and will help with shoulder joint stability and tendon strength. I'm not saying that it will aleviate the pain but it can help keep the joint stable.

Spinal injuries can also cause those same type of pains. So, I'm wondering if they have done an MRI of your cervical spine also. If they haven't and they can't find a cause for your pain within your shoulder area, then maybe you should talk to them about it. Cuz I have herniated disks in the cervical spine, and my pain started out kind of like that.

I had an injury that behaved like that. I thought I was doomed to live with the pain forever. One of my friends is a massage therapist and I let him work on it. The immediate relief was significant but what was really impressive was the way it kept getting better. In a couple of weeks it was back to normal. Try a good massage therapist. Get recommendations.
