What is the average recovery time after surgery for a torn ACL ligament?

Question:
My ACL ligament was completely torn last November while I was pregnant with twins and I will have surgery in about 4 months to reconstruct it. I was wondering how long I should expect to be out of work to heal from the surgery.

Answers:
I was in your same situation about two years ago. If all goes well you should expect to return to work in three to four weeks. You wont be allowed work on your feet at all during this period. If all goes well and you dont fall or hurt yourself you'll be back to you ole self after about a year or so. The key is do everything your doctor tells you which will include completing your rehab, and put together you known work out schedule to follow at your local gym. It going to take a lot of work. The pros do it. I did it and so will you.

Be good to yourself,

I hope this info helps: http://www.answers.com/topic/anterior-cruciate-ligament-reconstruction Orthopaedic surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges orthopaedic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your sons bow leg surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her Knee ACL repair surgery in India throught the forerunners healthcare .SHe is more than very happy with the results. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com Been there, done that. Hurts like heck sometimes, lol.
Anyways, depends if your surgery is arthroscopic or not. That was how mine was done 3 years ago. I was on crutches for about a week and a half. Spent 2 days in bed.
Hope it helps ya! wow, it will be hard for u with twin babies! i had mine done and it took about 4-6 wks. healing time. i was in hospital overnight and they started continuous motion machine which i had to take home w/me. it moves the leg for u and u increase the r.o.m. (range of motion) gradually. this helps SO much, and they have u on crutches for about a week or so. physical therapy starts right away, and it does help to move it as quickly as possible.

u will have to wear an acl brace for about a yr. it's not too bad really. the hard part for u will be the babies. good luck to ya!

take care!!
