Can too much sleep give you a spliting headache?
Question:
Answers:
If you drink a lot of coffee normally then that would explain it, caffeine increases the blood flow to the brain, and the whole body for that matter. Caffeine also has properties which inhibit pain, so when you abruptly stop drinking it the pressure drops and the pain comes back. Normally this can cause extreme headaches and nausea. It used to happen to me. You might think about your pillow, it may be crimping the nerves in your neck when you are sleeping thus the headaches... I used to get them so bad that I would throw up, after going to three doctors a chiropractor finally set me right. I had a slipped disc..(( Good luck dear...

It must be from a tumor!
Strange you should ask, it was a topic of conversation last night....I found that too much sleep was giving me a headache many years ago when I was when I indulged or was sick because I was not getting up and getting my usual dose of CAFFEINE....withdrawls...and as soon as I had a cup, headache went away....
Sure sleeping too much or too deeply can give you a headache or even an upset stomach.
If you're getting a lot of headaches and craving more sleep than normal, you may have a medical problem. I would suggest talking to your doctor to see if she or he has a recommendation for you.
A headache is a warning sign that something is amiss. Be smart and head it off at the border.
that happens to me...if I sleep for more than 10 hours...like until 12 or 1PM...I get a bad headache
yes, it happens because when you lay down, your body is circulating blood differantly than when you are active. Plus you tend to drink less fluids when sleeping. 8+ glasses a day!
You have to keep the right blood flow through your body. If you've been sick, when you wake up, do some stretches, and drink alot of water, and your head aches should decrease, or be eliminated.
Yes it has happened to me several times. Especially if you go to sleep depressed and you don't want to get up. I say to avoid this, make yourself get up and find something to do
Yes, when you need sleep, then you sleep too much then it's like WHOA! You get this headache! It's aweful, I hope you feel better!
yes! unless your coming down with some crud.
Actually, no I don't think it does. I go to sleep at like 10:00 and wake up at 11:30. No big deal. Doesn't happen to me, so it shouldn't happen to you. I think you just have migraines. You should consult a doctor immediately. Sleep should help headaches, not cause them!
Believe it or not, yes you can get headaches from oversleeping. Especially if you're also overheating or dehydrated.
Try drinking more water. If you have a headache right now, try coffee and asperin, then a cool shower.
Good luck!
not likely actually. 3 very good causes for headache is: as you've heard caffeine, another is if you grind your teeth in your sleep (i do this) you simply need to buy a guard at say walmart for that. lastly, is vision. are you sleeping with contacts in? are you properly caring for your contacts? do you need an eye exam?
