Do common garden/grass snakes bite if provoked?

Question:
I think I was bitten by a small snake in my yard. I have a quarter sized bruise with fang looking spots in it. I was definately spooked by something the other night that got me in the yard, but had no visible signs until the next day.

Answers:
Yes they do. It hurts a little but they have no venom. If it gets infected looking it will need a doctor, but as long as it just looks bruised it is fine.

Other Answers:
Yeah they do
Any animal will bite if provoked. You're probably fine- just watch for signs of infection: redness, swelling, red streaks around the area, a warm-to-the-touch feeling in the area...
yep i got bit by a garden snake when i was a kid but it didnt hurt much better keep an eye on that if your not sure what bit ya
yeah they bite are you sure it was a grass snake you might want to get it checked our if it gets worse
hope you don't die from it!
Yes they bite.
Gopher snakes do!
Rosy Boas and King Snakes don't
Don't know about the rest.
Put some Polysporin or Neosporin on the bite.
It definitely was not a Rattle Snake. You would know that immediately!
