I stepped up on a common pin. What should I do to prevent infection at home?

Question:

Answers:
vacuum... sorry it was too easy.

if it was rusted, you'll have to get a tetanos shot. until you do, put peroxid or alcohol on it but go see a doctor in less than 12 hours.

Other Answers:
pour some Hydrogen Peroxide on it. Then use a band-aid.
Use peroxide to clean out the wound. Then put a bandaid with neosporin on it. You should get a tetnus shot if it has been 10 years or more since your last one.
Make sure that the area bled after the injury. Bleeding pulls any germs out of the wound. If it did not bleed, you should see a doctor. Any germs can wall themselves off and start a nasty infection.

If it did bleed, and the pin wasn't rusty, use peroxide and some neosporin. Then keep an eye on it. Also, take a bandaid off when you're not walking (like, at night when in bed). Moisture build up under a bandage can also cause infection.
