What is the best cold medicine?
Question:
Answers:
Antihistamine will dry up a runny nose, but if you feel congested (sinus pressure) or can't really breathe thru nose, then you need a decongestant for that (such as Sudafed, but you are looking for the ingredient, pseudoephedrine).
I love Theraflu--you drink it hot so it soothes your throat plus has painkiller and decongestant. If your nose is drippy, you might get relief from an over the counter non-drowsy antihistamine, like Claritin or Alavert (personal fave). Of course, Benadryl will do it but it will knock you out for about 3 hours too. You can take both an antihistamine with Theraflu or another cold remedy, like Advil Cold and Sinus. Just read the active ingredients and don't take two things that contain the same substance.
Again, b/c you are probably out of it, here's your grocery list. Look for 3 ingredients in total to knock your symptoms out: an antihistamine (loratadine for nondrowsy or diphenhydramine hydrochloride for drowsy), something with pseudoephedrine and a pain reliever (acetominophen or ibuprofen).
