my dr prescribe a medi to be taken 3 times a day but they have to be 8 hours apart how can i take it 3 times?
Question:
Answers:
Very few meds have to be taken EXACTLY every 8 hours, and that includes antibiotics. So depending you may be able to take it when you wake up, mid day then bedtime.
You should call your MD or pharmacist to check first
Edit: Seeing it's an antibiotic, three times a day, Im going to go and bet it's amoxicillin. There are other possibilities but that is the best bet. That one you Do NOT have to take exactly every eight hours, so the above schedule would be OK. Actually no antibiotic as you described would have to be EXACTLY every 8, so dont worry! Just make sure you take them all!
Other Answers:
Take them at 6, 2, and 10
Ask your doctor and find out. You might have to set your alarm to be woken up when you are asleep. Explain to him your situation. Good Luck! Well, there are 24 hours in a day (8*3) What kind of medication is it? If it is an antibiotic or something..you are going to have to suffer and wake your self up to take your pills. If it is a pain med or something that is prescribed as needed, you can skip the dose and take it before you go to bed and when you get up in the morning and then somewhere in between.
24 hours / 3 = 8hours
It seems that you have a problem that only you can solve.
Sleeping 11 hours is an issue worthy of attention.
the prescription doesn't 3 times a day for nothing. the schedule does not have to be exactly every 8 hours. On in the morning when you get up, one during mid day and one when you go to bed, sounds reasonable. take one the second you get up, like even before you pee, the next at "lunch" time, and the last as the last thing you do before you sleep. :) :) :)
you take one as soon as you get up (at 10).. then one more at 6.. another one u have to wake up at 2 to take it..
unless you wanna wake up earlier.. then u can take the meds earlier.. and don't have to wake up in the middle of nite to take it..
I would make sure it's not a mistake on the bottle and if he really intended you to take 3 a day.. It's important you take them 3 times a day. That means you go to bed later, get up earlier, or set your clock, take them and go back to bed.
Take it at 8am- 4pm- 11pm ( you have an hour window so you need not wait til 12a ). You really should take it as prescribed- if you are sleeping then you need to set your alarm clock so you can get up and take it.
I'm sorry but if you can't figure that out you are taking way to much medication already. Why would you ask a question that makes you sound sooooooooooo dumb?
If you want to get well you have to make some sacrifices. You may have to miss a little sleep. But it doesn't have to be exactly 8 hours one hour either way is fine, so you can take it from 7-9 hours apart. The whole reason for taking them every 8 is just to try and keep the drug in your system to fight your illness. Train yourself to wake up two hours earlier so you can take them at 8, 4 and 12 (which is what I usually do when the dr prescribes an antibiotic to me).otherwise you'll have to train yourself to take them at 10:30 am, 6:30 pm and 2:30 am.
At 8 am, 4 pm, and 12 am. You need to adjust your sleep hours so that your medication is effective and does not overlap, causing too much meds during part of the day and not enough in another part of day. Don't overdose by trying to squeeze 3 times a day into less than eight hours each.
Take your first dose at 6:00 a.m.
Take your 2nd dose at 2:00 p.m.
Take your 3rd dose at 10:00 p.m.
If you need to set your alarm in order to take your medication on time, then please do so. Take all medication as prescribed by your doctor, if he/she says take it every 8 hours, then follow those instructions.
Your need to sleep such long hours concerns me. Have you discussed this with your doctor? If not, you need to. You could have any number of medical problems which need immediate attention. I wish you well. You really need to ask your doctor. There are some medications which if you miss taking them, you ought to double up on the next dose. And other medications where you NEVER want to double the dose. It depends on a lot of things, including the other medications you are taking, your dosage, etc.
Also, some drugs need to be taken with food, and others not. Your doctor needs to spend enough time with you to make sure you understand exactly what to do. I often ask my doctor to write out the instructions for me.
