My finger breaks out every time I wear a ring?

Question:
Everytime I put a ring on my wedding finger it breaks out in a blistered rash. My wedding ring is a really nice and expensive ring. It is 14k gold. I even went and had my ring checked to make sure I didn't get ripped off. I have had it cleaned many many times. The confusing thing is, I can wear all other jewlery, necklaces, other rings, ear rings, anything. Just nothing on my wedding finger. This has been going on for a few years. Any ideas? Maybe an infection??

Answers:
Ah... my wife had the same problem. The problem is that inside the ring there is a hollow area (behind the diamond [s]) that somehow manages to keep moisture.

The solution is to have your jeweler fill in that area with more gold. Problem was solved right away. Until then... every time your ring finger gets wet... take off the ring and dry it. Good luck.

Other Answers:
You are allergic to commitment.
It might just be a reaction to the nickel additive in your ring. Try wrapping your finger with tape before you put it on - provides a barrier between it and your skin and might help prevent the reaction.
Maybe see your dermatologist. There could be something in the metal or you could be allergic.
Have you worn any other jewelry made of gold? You could be allergic to gold.

You could also be allergic to other metal that somehow contaminated the gold in your wedding ring, but isn't present in your other jewelry. I doubt it's an infection...more likely an allergy. You might just have to get a new ring!
you are probly alergic to that kind of ring
a friend of mine had this problem and she coated the inside of the ring with clear nail varnish .this can easily cleaned of and renewed without harming the ring
no, no infection. You're algeric to one of the alkalie metals bonded with the gold. It's unfortunate, but you need to get a new ring.
this sounds crazy but my engagement ring i have to wear on the bottom instead of the top of my wedding ring cause my finger will break out too. every time i clean or wash my hands i dry underneath my rings, that seems to help. and if you use any kind of cleaner or bleach wash you hands good. works for me
thats weird.......... maybe you should go see a doctor
You need to try 22 carat good plain band.

It is more pure gold, very few people are allergic to 22 carat gold.

If not 24 carat should work, it is very soft.

To support stones gold would have to be no purer then 18 carat max.

Explain the problem, buy it on trail bases. If it does not work out, get the refund by returning the band.
