When we have a cold why is it that we feel worse at night?

Question:
I have a bad cold.
In day time i feel a little better but once it's time to go to bed i feel worse, why is that?

Answers:
You feel worst at night because your laying down and all the build up in your body like snot and flem drain into your lungs and throat so it makes it harder to sleep at night

Other Answers:
I think it's because it's when you usually go to bed?

You're tired from fighting your cold all day. You have a tendency to run fever and get more stopped up at night when you are lying down. Because once you're in bed, your sinuses start to fill, leaving you stuffy and unable to breathe.

I also have a bad cold for more than a week now and i am experiencing the same problem. I just hope we feel better soon.

Because your immune system slows down at night because night time or sleep is when the body rests even our immune system rests.

when you go to bed and relax your body has the ability to fight harder against the invader thats making you sick.
so you feel it more at those times.
Not to mention the mental aspect of not being fixated on work, school or whatever that you do in the day.

When you lay down the extra mucus starts to drain from your noise into your throat choking you. I recommend that you get the medication Mucilage, it is over the counter and designed to reduce the mucus. Ask your local pharmacist which medication would be best for you to treat your cold. Then describe the worst symptoms you have. They will happily give you advice. They don't make any money off the sale, but the store will so they will not be tempted to steer you wrong. i heard that studys showed a persons pain threshhold(how well you tolerate pain and discomfort) goes down in the evening

Because Your Body Is About To Go into A Restfull State Of Being An Your Vitals Are Slowing And All The Movement During The Day Has Ceased You Tend To Feel Bad Feels Like Your Nose Wants To Run A Little More Its Cause It Colder In Your House Than It Is Outside
