It sounds to me that it could be just temporary. If you have to use jackhammer or any loud equipment.make sure you use ear plugs. Sometimes it is permanent but I feel if it was regular jack hammer youd be in troble.
You learned a valuable lesson protect your ears.

you may have done permanent injury which may show up as increasing deafness as you age. People use ear plugs to prevent this - duh!
probably permanent.people just don't realize how easily you can do it
It will decrease little by little with the time being, around a week.
I don't know. I have had some hearing damage due to loud music in headphones. Don't mess with this; go to your doctor or dentist and ask about hearing loss and maybe TMJ too. (Loud noise can cause you to clench your jaw and/or grind your teeth, which can cause jaw problems, which can cause hearing problems due to disturbance of the external auditory meatus [the place at the junction of your jaw and skull where the Eustachian tube goes through].)
I hate to say this, but you may have permanently damaged your hearing. You need to have a doctor check this out to know for certain.
In the future, please use hearing protection for this kind of work. Once you lose your hearing, only a miracle can restore it.
