what is the best over the counter medicine to take for some who has panic attacks?
Question:
Answers:
From a Drug Guide website:
"Lorazepam (Ativan) may increase the effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines, seizure medicines, and muscle relaxants."
So basically, Ativan may increase the drowsiness of another medicine that ALSO causes drowsiness.
Based on that, I would look for an OTC that contains little or no alcohol OR look for "non-drowsy" formulas of an over-the-counter med that looks like it fits your symptoms.
Also, you may want to start with 1/2 of the recommended dosage of the cold meds.
I wouldn't worry too much. Just don't over-do it with the OTC meds until you see how it will interact with your Ativan.
Hope you feel better soon!

The best thing you can do is eat as much garlic as you can stand.Raw is best.It will kill the infection. Also mix some salt(Sea Salt if you have it) with warm water and spray or put some drops in your nose.I know it sound bad but it really works great.Don't use the over the counter stuff it just makes it worse.Good luck and Feel better!
Take a nasal decongestant. It doesn't interfere with palpitations or anxiety medications.

My daughter takes Ativan on occasion and she won't take anything over the counter unless she speaks to her doctor or pharmacist.
