If a person has "heart blockages" -is THERE any way to get rid of them --other than Stents etc?

Question:
My Mom had to have open-heart surgery last yr. - because one or more of her blockages were located in certain places & she could not have the stents. - (I am in my 50's & don't know IF I have blockages or not); I don't know my present chloestrol level, but if it is High & I lower it --would THAT delete any possible blockages? Also , how does Doc detect IF a person has the blockages--- by X-rays or what?

Answers:
Reducing you cholesterol levels can reduces your risks in you not developing heart blockages but there are a lot of of factors that your doctor will consider to weigh your risks. Your general health and weight, diabetes, family history are just a few of the factors that doctors use to access your cardiac health.

As for finding blockages they do a procedure called a cardiac catheterzation. They make a small incision in your groin area, where your femoral artery is and feed a wire up through your arterial system into your heart. Once there the inject a radio active dye and take a "real time" x-ray. Where the dye does not pass through easily or at all is where you have blockages.

After a "cardiac cath" a Cardiologist will best assess which of the treatment options are best for you. They can range from lifestyle changes to medication to different types of surgery. Some surgery involves stents while others like your mother, can not be treated with them and need other interventions.

The only person who can help you assess you Cardiac Risk Factors is you doctor. He or she may refer you to a Cardiologist for further assessment.

It's far better to have your risks factors evaluated now then waiting until you have chest pains, a heart attack or a stroke. Being proactive might just save your life.

the answer is no
It is cholesterol in blood streams which create a film around the arteries and veins that gradually chokes the passage and causes 'heart blockage'. One may go for surgery and get the blockage removed but it is no guarantee that at some other point he will not develop another blockage so long as the cholesterol rich blood flows through the streams.

Hence, you should stop taking cholesterol rich food, like butter, sugar, oil, dry-fruits, alcoholic drinks etc. etc. Take normal diet preferably fibrous food like green salad and germinated soyabin seed, grams, mung, just as much as your body requires and check your appetite for tasty and spicy food for which you have to control your mind by self-suggestion and alertness like a sentinel against evil forces.

Secondly, take raw garlic at least 15 to 20 grams a day during breakfast and after dinner. You must finish your dinner at least two hours before retiring to bed. Undigested food in the stomach while sleeping generates much of the cholesterol. The food taken must be burnt by work before going to sleep.

Thirdly, do some physical exercise with out tiring the body. The best way is to do some Asanas and Pranayama everyday in empty stomach after clearing the bowls as a part of Yoga. it will help in cleansing the inside tubes that has caused 'heart blockage'.
