Has anyone had a discectomy for sciatic pain down leg?

Question:
Did it stop the pain down leg? Was recoup time short?

Answers:
A discetomy can be performed with limited pain and limited incision size. A microdisectomy is performed using a small scope with an incision the size of 2-4 inches or smaller. The scope cuts into the bulging disc sac and "sucks" out the fluid protruding out pushing on your nerves. It will help the pain but the possibility of the sac re-bulging is always there. The microdisectomy also lessens the problem of scar tissue in the area of the operation. The best advice is to start moving the night of surgery. Don't overdue the exercise but just walking at least three times a day-short distances will prevent muscle spasms and lessen scar tissue. You will be fine.

i had a lamenectomy for that i was out of work for 8 weeks by doctors orders but i felt pretty good after 4-5 weeks
I have had a discectomy about 11 yrs ago. to relieve sciatic pain.
it did stop the pain and the recoup time was about 2 months.
I now have the pain again and im having another surgey.
Just so you know your back will always have pain along with the sciatic pain at times, it will never totaly go away, but the surgery will help regardless.
Good luck ........
