get stronger sunscreen like the kind made for babies. Maybe try tanning in the tanning bed before summer gets here.
Use Sunblock instead of sunscreen. Apply frequently and stay out of the sun as much as possible. You don't want to end up with skin cancer, so prevention is your best bet.
Are you using a sunscreen with a high enough SPF?

If sunscreen won't work, consider wearing a hat to shield your face.
stay inside, or wear shades and wide-brimmed hat
Use at least a 15 sunblock and put it on more than once. If this is an everyday thing, wear protective clothing , which includes a wide brim hat.
don't stay under the sun for a long period of time or maybe.just stay out of the sun. wear wide brimmed hats.
try a different sunscreen. i have the same sort of complexion and i have found some sun screens that work--especially those made for babies. be very careful, because any burn or tan means that the skin has been damaged. (yes, i said that TAN means damage..it DOES)
stay in the house
Trust me, I have the palest skin out of everyone I know, and I don't even try. Some people I say I put on makeup to make myself more pale/gothic, but I don't.
Well, besides that, wear a hat to shade your face, but do not wear sunglasses, if you do burn then unless you wear the sunglasses all week, it'll look a little. strange.

Put a ton of sun screen on, but wait a little bit for it to soalk in. Also, so you dont get a burn on your back, wear a t-shirt.

If it makes you feel better, my whole back and arms are like a lobster. I went to the beach today, and nothing works for me either except for a t-shirt and hat. :( Good luck.
A suggestion I have is to try the _addition_ of one of the below:

- regularly apply self-tanning lotion. This will make your skin darker and less succeptible to burning.

- I've heard of something called "Mystic Tan". Basically, you go to a tanning salon that carries this unit that "spray paints" darker color on you (evenly, they claim). I understand this dries instantly and will not wash off. It comes off gradually with time, they claim.

I think doing one or both of the above in addition to using lots of sunscreen and covering yourself up should help.
put alot of sunblock that is SPF 60 and above, but In your case, i think you have to use the ones that are SPF 80 and above.Try using some lotion when your burn and stay out of the sun for a couple of days and if your going out, better use an umbrella.
Good Luck!
1. Increase your SPF. Sunblocks made for babies are typically 45 - 60. Try one of these. And remember to use it every day if you are going outside of the house, even if you won't be in the sun for very long.

2. Cover your skin. Wear light-weight cotton layers when you're outside. Use a brimmed hat to shield your face. Now with summer here, you can find some cute sassy hats and create your own style. Match your hats with shoes and purses if it makes you feel better.

3. Limit sun exposure. Don't stay out for extended periods of time. In fact, no more than 20 minutes in direct sunlight if at all possible. And even when not in direct sunlight, remember those UV rays will still reach you when you're outside. If you can't resist being outdoors, get out very early morning or in the evening. Don't go out during the middle of the day when the sun is high in the sky.

4. See a dermatologist. It is very important to get this under control. Each time you get a sunburn it increases your chances of developing melanoma, one of the most common and very deadly forms of skin cancer. A dermatologist may be able to recommend some products not available at your local drug store.
Well, Petunia, YOU have sun poison!! Is common here in the deep south. AND the sun screen you use can be the problem--try Zinc oxide ins ted. For the sun poison--use lots and lots of MILK OF MAGNESIA!! will take out the heat and help remove the red, It will also help keep your face from pealing two or three time. IF you ever have SP--You will have it again.! . SO wear a hat!! I KNOW!! I am a red head in AL
I know what you mean. My skin is fair too. My Mother always told me to wear a cap to keep the sun out of my face and off my head.
There is a new sunscreen that Neutrogena makes, its SPF 55, and its called Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock with helioplex. It really goes on less greasy. I use to have problem with sunscreen burning my face and leaving it red, but this one doesn't. I normally go jogging 11am - 1pm in the afternoon or 6 pm -7pm in the early evening, a few days it was 100 degrees, the sun is still high in the sky here in Texas during those hours, but I have not sunburned ever since I started using this sunscreen. I'm not light skinned nor dark skinned either, so you may need to be a little more careful than me, but this sunblock may help you.

I have a co-worker who has very fair skin and she applies sunscreen 15 minutes or so before getting in the pool so that it sinks in the skin first.
well you don't get a tan because you use "sun screen"!

"I use almost the whole bottle of sunscreen"

While sun screen is improtant to prevent several things, ultra violet rays that damage the skin being #1, premature wrinkles, blister scarring, dry and leathery skin due to too much sun exposure.

Fair skin (all skin types) needs the protection of a sunscreen. But try a tanning lotion that allows tanning, but with a smaller SPF, say SPF15 (sun proof factor) the higher the number of SPF, say 45, the less tanning will occure. And I don't mean one of those fake tanning things, but I will get to that in a minute.

"Lotion" tanning works best for lighter skin tones. "Oils" are for people who already have a tan or are of darker skin tones.

Try any of the lotions with a sun screen (SPF) of 15 would most likely work for your light skin. But limit your sun exposure to 30 to 45 mintues. If you want to spend more time in the sun? Say on vacation or Spring Break then UP the SPF number to 45 or higher.

But for tanning purposes on light skin you should use a lotion type tanning. Never OIL. Oil, is for frying, not tanning!

Then there are some great products out there for the light skin people or the beginner tanning person. Try L'OREAL" SUBLIME GLOW. It's a moisturizing cream but with skin tone enhancers. use it like a body lotion but take the same precautions as a tanning agent with colorings.

But this is a more suttle approach.

And tanning beds are always an option to "start" with. Get a 1 month deal and go every day for 15 minutes, then lay out in the natural sun light for 30 mintues a couple of times per week.

Pass on the second month of the tanning bed, continue the natural sun light using a good lotion based tanning product like Panama Jack for light skin, L"OREAL' tanning for light skin.

Alternate the tanning bed with real sun.

For that sunburn you should be using 100% aloe vera for cooling and healing the skin. And never beleive someone that says to use NOXEMA. It closes the pores. The pores have to breathe to heal.

For your face you should use a major SPF no matter what! To prevent wrinkles and that over dried skin look. Your face burns more easily, so protect it.

Hope this helps...
