wht causes eyes to swell up?

Question: For the past few days my left eye has been irritating me and just recently it began to swell up... now its noticibly smaller than the right eye and is still swollen. I splashed cold water on my face as well as applied an ice pack but the swelling still exist. What should i do next?

go to walmart...get some cream or ointment to put in it...you could just have a stye...or pink eye...they have over the counter stuff that you can get for that...just ask the pharmacy tech when you get there

If you say it has been irritating you, I'd see the eye doctor right away. You do not want to take a chance or mess with your eyes. You could have a scratch or foreign object in it. Be safe and see the doctor.
