What makes my neck feel like I am being strangled.?

Question: i have this wierd thing that happens and it has done it off and on for years. My neck tightens up like I have something wrapped around it. It is a very uncomfortable feeling. It isnt something I feel every day but comes and goes. I keep trying to think what I have done differently each day but I cant pin point it. Anyone else have this feeling?
