From looking at your other questions, I'm trying to guess your age. That probably has something to do with it. Arthritis in your bones, I've heard has to do with build-up of calcium on your bones. If your family has a history of arthritis, then it could be a sign that you're prone to same. Salt is a big factor in getting that calcium build-up. So along with losing weight and kicking whatever addiction you asked about, look to cut back on your salt intake. I don't think you can do much about removing the build up on your thumb bones, but you might prevent more acute arthritis in the future. Think of it as a "string tied round your finger" (or thumb) to remind you to lower the sodium intake.
Youre most likely sleeping on it. Change your position, make yourself, and maybe youll see a difference.
