Is percocet safe to take with vicodin?

Question:
[For pain.]

Answers:
Makes no sense to take 2 short acting narcotics together. Take one of them and wait 4-6 hours and then take the other one and see which one controlled your pain better. Then stick with the one that works better and follow the doctor's instruction. If neither of them work well talk to your doctor. Do not take more that 8 of either or in combination because Tylenol overdose is also possible. Also make sure your doctor knows exactly what you are taking including over the counter stuff.

Other Answers:
i don't think so, call your local pharmacist (Walgreen, CVS, Eckerd)
ask Dr, house.nuff said
OMG NOOOOOOOOOOO
HELL NO! One is Hydrocodone, the other Oxycodone. Two very strong narcotics. I see overdose happening if they are taken together!
Yes and wash it down with a beer and a bonghit..
No, I am a medical student and the combination could put you in a coma.
As others have said they are both effective narcotics. Percocet is a Class II and Vicodin a class IV. Do NOT take them together under any circumstances and you do not need to drink alcohol while taking either. Also do not take acetaminophen while taking the Vicodin because it is already an ingredient in it.
NO! Call your doc if you need better pain meds. There is a tendency for people taking vic to lose track of their last dose and od. Perc would add to that. Also you need to consider your liver and kidneys[or whatever organ helps clear those drugs]. Very dangerous stuff if you don't know what you're doing.
I worked in pharmacy for over 10 years, these are not given to be taken together. Percocet is stronger than Vicodin.
If these aren't yours.. don't take them. Really. It totally isn't worth it.
If you have both you must be in extreme pain. The percocet and vicodin together is not a good idea. If your pain is that bad you should discuss with your MD alternatives. If you take these together not only do you chance a narcotic overdose but an over dose of acetaminophen(Tylenol) which is very easy to OD on.
As everyone has said you cannot take them together. Not only are they both codeine derivatives (Vicodin is hydrocodone and Percocet is oxycodone), but they also both contain acetaminophen (Tylenol). As someone else stated do not take any tylenol or tylenol containing products while on this medication.
Also, I know Julius said not to take more than 8 of either in 24 hours, but this is not completely true. There are different strenghts of Vicodin and Percocet all with varying amounts of acetaminophen. You may be able to take 8 tablets of some strengths but some, such as Vicodin ES, is restricted to a maximum of 5 per day.
