Can smelling something bad damage your sense of smell?

Question:
I know smells can linger in your nose for awhile after you smell them (so please don't repeat what I already know---it's common sense), but the musty smell I inhaled earlier today is still with me. I was helping in cleaning out a room that had extensive musty moldy air and the putrid odor has stayed with me all day. It's there no matter what I do. Everytime I breath in I smell it. While I was taking a shower, the towels smelled like it. I'm worried that it has damaged my sense of smell somehow. Anyone have any ideas (besides the common sense stuff I said earlier because I know all about how the nose works and how smells cling to your sensors). This seems like too long of a time to still smell that odor.

Answers:
I think the only thing that can damage your smelling is really strong chemicals. If you were around mold, I would maybe try to put a little water up there and rinse it out a tad.

Other Answers:
it should go away. go blow your nose. get some fresh air. and you'll be brand new.
sorry don't mean to bust your bubble or whatever but your nose is broken maybe you haven got over the pot yet...lol just kidding.... i don't know 2 points 4 me!!!
