is it safe to wash fruit and vegetables with dishwashing liquid soap?

Question:

Answers:
It's safe, yes, provided you rinse them well.more to keep the flavor from tasting like joy or dawn..look at it this way, the plate or bowl you are going to put the fruit on was washed by the same soap - and it hasn't killed ya yet =)

Other Answers:
Yes but it tends to leave a residue that tastes bad.

Try a natural vegetable oil soap like Castile soap instead.

I would think no. You'd need warm water to be sure you'd removed all the soap residue, and that wouldn't be too good for the food.

There are special soaps made specifically for washing vegetables and fruits.

I don't-I wouldn't think so. I don't think so because I think the soap leaves behind residue on the food. While it probably won't kill you, it will probably get someone sick. Running water is what is required at my work and I cook.

i don't recommend it because then your fruits and vegetables can absorb the soap. they sell a special wash for fruits and vegetables your grocery store should have it. http://www.veggie-wash.com/
