How do I soften my bowel movements?

Question:
Ever since I had my baby 5 mnths ago I haven't had a normal bowel movment. They are huge and hard. My anus rips open ever time and I bleed for hours. It's very painful and I'm afraid of infection. I've been taking stool softeners and they don't seem to be helping. I can't see a doctor because I don't have health insurance. Is there anything I can tke or eat?? I'm nursing my baby so I don't want to take anything that could make him sick...

What do I do??? I'm desperate!!!

Answers:
increase your fiber intake and try using a hemmroid medication

i have 3 girls and had the same problem after having all 3 of mine-women who have had children tend to get hemmroids more easily.

high fiber foods include:

-prunes
-prune juice
-dates (nuts)
-beets
-whole grain breads,muffins,or bagels
-bran flakes
-brown rice
-apricots,raisins,kiwi,apples w/ skin,oranges
-broccoli,spinach,green peas
-kidney beans,lima bean,black eyed peas

all of these are great for your baby too b/c they will help provide the necessary nutrients he needs through your breastmilk...

you can also take over the counter fiber tablets.

the hemmroid medication comes in cream form and is inserted inside the anus to help shrink the hemmroids that are inside the anal wall-this should help some too

hope you feel better soon
Colace every day

If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
