How serious is a "undisplaced clavical fracture?"?

Question:
On a scale of 1-10, 10 being very serious, can any doctors explain this?

Answers:
Not very serious, maybe a 2 or 3. An "undisplaced" clavicle fracture means that you have broken your collarbone, but your collarbone is still in place. While this can be very painful, the only treatment is to immobilize the area through a sling or a splint, take pain medications, and allow it to heal. An NSAID such as Motrin or Naprosyn can also help decrease any inflammation, and ice can decrease swelling and pain as well.

Other Answers:
3-4, just a crack in the bone, not shattered or sticking out. take it easy for 5-6 weeks and should be fine. see your local doctor and get x-rays.

They can be painful but not really a serious medical condition.

It's a cracked collar bone. clavicle fractures are very common and heal very well. Undisplaced means that the two fractured unds did not move out of alignment.
it should heal fine in 4-8 weeks (depending on your age, nutritional status, whether you smoke or not).
Limit strenuous activity and no sports until the doctor has a chance to re-x-ray your clavicle (to make sure it is healing ok) and give you an ETA when you can play again. Advil for discomfort if ok.
