i think t have an ear infection. Should i go to the doctor?

Question:
i have a cold and my ear strated to hurt yesterday. Didnt pay much attention. Today when i woke up it hurt sooooo bad. I dont know if i should go to the doctor. Is there anything i can buy over the counter?

Answers:
No, there really isn't nothing over the counter that is going to help you. There are 2 types of ear infections, inner and outer. Any over the counter drug or liquid will not help an inner ear infection. Only antibiotics will. If you have an outer ear infection, then only an antibiotic liquid will help.one that is made espeically for the ear. So basically, I hate to say this, but you'll need to go to a doctor to get examined and get the right medicine. If you wait too long, the pain can become unbearable (especially at night, when your metabolism slows down), and it can become worse..and even spread to the point where it can become dangerous. So go ahead and spend the money and get it treated right.and get it over with. I hope you feel better really soon. best of luck to you.

yes, go to the doctor

Go to the Doctor. Why do you even have to ask. An ear that hurts sooooo bad is not something you solve on youqa.com! You could have an ear infection, punctured ear drum, or a variety of other things. your ears are sooooo sensitive! you need to go to the doctor to have them checked out! you don't want the infection to spread!

Yes, of course, if you're running a temp. You'll need antibiotics to treat it.

There OTC treatments for the pain - but not the infection

it's best if you go see the doctor, you can put eye drops into your ears, it'll help sooth the pain
